Introduction: To the West and the World

My blog is about Chapter 25, The West and the World. This chapter basically showed the industrialization and the idea of nationalism travel all the way through Europe. It also shows changes that impact the rest of the world. We saw numerous idea spread during this period. We also saw massive migration which led to expansion in the western part. By the end of the chapter we learned how India, Japan and China were able to meet the imperialist challenge. Building and investment were made in order to modernize the city.

Objective: My objective is to provide you with the key information that hold significant importance with in this chapter.

EQ: How does the idea of the white mans burden impact us today?

Answer: Well the whole idea of the white man burden is that blacks are inferior to whites and that they are dirty and need to become pure. I think that in some instances racism still exist today but it is not as obvious as back then. I mean back then they cleanly stayed with pictures and the pear soap. Now I think blacks are just grouped together and looked at as more of a stereotype than a person.
