Some believe that the social and economic difference led to the Civil War. The Civil War was from 1861-1865. It was considered the most violent war that the United States had ever had. This war was a war between states in other wards brother against brother. Abraham Lincoln was the president during this time. They were fighting mainly over there beliefs and right. In the end the Confederates surrendered. By the end 2.4 million soldiers were killed and many were injured. This war was considered gruesome and the land and territories were destroyed.

THE SPANISH AMERICAN WAR:
This was a short conflict between the United States and Spain. The war was declared in April of 1898 and end in August of the same year. after the war they signed the Treaty of Paris which ended the conflict. The war started because the United States wanted Spain to peacefully resolve Cuba's demands for independence. Only July 3, 1898 the Spanish American war became the largest naval battle. Which ended in total destruction for the Spanish.
CONNECTION ACROSS CONTINENT:
The connection across the continent would be regardless of where you are in the world people fight for what they believe is right and will stick by there beliefs and they will rebellion if at all necessary. We see similar reoccurring themes through this chapter. Each country want to gain land through imperialism and they will not stop until they get what they want.
